It sucks. Make it bettter

You are upset that your candidate did not win the election.

You are upset that the County Council passed a rule.

Now do something. Get involved, and do something positive. Yelling about how unfair it is does not make the grade. Talking to folks to find a better way to do something. Providing for the needy

Here is an email exchange as an example. I saw an issue and I mentioned it, with a positive suggestion, and I got a positive response, suggesting that the solution was already in the works. When it is a government thing, it takes time.

Why might I care?  I am tired of seeing stuff dumped by the side of the road. Dumped there by lazy inconsiderate cheapskates.  See to get rid of a mattress here, today, there is an $11 fee, each!!  So, when the kids grow up and need a new one, there is an $11 disposal fee. And to get in the gates at the dump site, another $22.

These fees add up and then there is the time to drive out, wait my turn, and the drive home. Assuming there is a vehicle to transport to the dump.  Easier to just drop it curbside. Or next to the river. Or next to those tomatoes.

I am now an activist.  I will follow-up in a pleasant but annoying manner to see how it is progressing some time in February.

Go out there and do something constructive in your community. This week.  Not next month or next week.

I'm pretty sure you folks have seen the current adverts for Mattress recycling.  http://byebyemattress.com/.
They have coordinated with many counties and facilities in Northern California. San Joaquin county is circled by options, but there is no coordinating facility here. Can we get our county up to speed?
Thank you

Good Afternoon  –
The County currently has a mattress recycling program in place at our North County Recycling Center and Sanitary Landfill and at the Lovelace Materials Recovery Facility where the wood, metal and certain foam/pads from mattresses are recycled – although not under the Mattress Recycling Counsel (MRC) banner.  We have met with the MRC and local mattress recycling vendors to see if we can work together to improve upon our mattress recycling program.  The County hopes to get an MRC certified mattress recycling vendor on-board by early 2017.  Mattress recycling is a priority and is on our radar as we strive to meet California’s diversion goals.
Thank you,
